Why convert Monzo PDF to Excel instead of using Monzo's native CSV export?
Monzo's native CSV export covers transaction history but is not accepted as an official bank document by mortgage lenders, HMRC, letting agents, or visa processing centres. The PDF statement is the bank-certified record required for these formal purposes. StatementConverter turns this official PDF into a structured, accounting-ready Excel file — giving you both compliance documentation and a usable spreadsheet.
Does StatementConverter handle Monzo's merchant category tags?
Yes. Monzo PDFs include merchant category labels (e.g., 'Eating Out', 'Transport', 'Groceries') alongside each transaction. StatementConverter preserves these category descriptors in the description column of the Excel output, making it easy to sort or filter transactions by spending category for budgeting or expense analysis.
Can I use the Monzo Excel output for HMRC Self-Assessment?
Yes. Monzo customers who are sole traders or self-employed regularly use the StatementConverter Excel output to categorise business expenses for HMRC Self-Assessment SA103 supplementary pages. All transaction dates, merchant names, and amounts are preserved exactly as they appear in the original Monzo bank-issued PDF.
Does it support Monzo Business and Monzo Pro account statements?
Yes. Monzo Business and Monzo Pro PDF statements follow the same core layout as personal account statements. StatementConverter extracts all transactions — including Monzo Business Pots transfers, invoice payment references, and direct debits — into a structured Excel file suitable for business bookkeeping.
Is the output compatible with Xero, FreeAgent, or QuickBooks UK?
Yes. The CSV export from StatementConverter imports directly into Xero, FreeAgent, QuickBooks Online UK, and Sage. All are HMRC-recognised MTD-compatible platforms. Use the bank statement import feature and map the Date, Description, and Amount columns — no additional formatting required.
How many months of Monzo history can I convert in one session?
There is no hard limit. Monzo's PDF statements are generated per month — download each month's PDF individually from the Monzo app and convert them one at a time with StatementConverter. For a full year, process 12 PDFs across 12 sessions. There is no restriction on the total number of conversions.
