What is the difference between ING Direct and ING full-service account statement formats?
ING Direct accounts (online-only savings and current accounts) issue statements with a compact, digital-first PDF layout that prioritises IBAN references and SEPA payment codes. ING full-service branch accounts may include additional line items for standing orders, recurring direct debits, and interest calculations. StatementConverter handles both ING statement formats — the extraction engine identifies the transaction table structure regardless of account type or PDF layout variant.
Is the ING Bank statement password-protected?
No. ING Bank eStatements downloaded via ING Online Banking or the ING app are not encrypted with a file-level password. Authentication is handled at the banking portal login stage. Once the PDF is downloaded, you can upload it directly to StatementConverter and begin conversion without entering any password.
Can I use the Excel output for Belastingdienst or Dutch tax filings?
Yes. The structured Excel output from StatementConverter is used by Dutch sole proprietors (ZZP-ers), BV bookkeepers, and accountants to categorise ING Bank transactions for Aangifte Inkomstenbelasting (income tax) and BTW returns filed with the Belastingdienst. The output integrates via CSV into Exact Online and other Dutch accounting platforms widely used in the Netherlands.
Does it handle SEPA transactions in ING Bank statements?
Yes. ING Bank statements include SEPA Overboeking (Credit Transfer), SEPA Incasso (Direct Debit), and iDEAL payment references. StatementConverter preserves IBAN counterparty references, mandate codes, and end-to-end IDs for each SEPA transaction in the Excel output — essential for reconciling ING transactions against supplier invoices and iDEAL payment confirmations.
Are IBAN numbers from ING Bank statements preserved correctly in Excel?
Yes. StatementConverter's Institutional Float Protection forces all ING Bank IBAN strings to text format in Excel, preventing automatic conversion to scientific notation. Dutch IBANs follow the NL format (e.g., NL91ABNA0417164300) and are 18 characters long — too long for Excel to store as a number without corrupting the last digits. All IBANs are preserved exactly as they appear in the original ING PDF.
Is the conversion GDPR-compliant for ING Bank data?
Yes. Your ING Bank statement PDF is processed entirely within your browser using WebAssembly — it is never sent to any external server inside or outside the EU. This local-only processing satisfies GDPR's requirements for personal data protection, ensuring your account information, IBAN references, and transaction history remain exclusively on your device.
